The secret element of Lotus Spike bears resemblance to the centre piece (stamen) of the lotus lily. Hidden between the petals of a delicate flower is a sharp spike that can be accessed in an instant. The top “petal” and its spike can be removed with a simple tug. The pointed spike will break free. Simply place your fingers around the 2 bottom petals, with the spike between your fingers. The petal-shaped handle will keep the spike in place, giving you a sharp point to help you push away or break free from the grip of an attacker.
There is a lack of clear guidelines for knife carry in South Africa and the use of “discretion” is often applied by the police. However, it is your right to carry a knife, but by doing so, you need to comply with the requirements as laid out in the Dangerous Weapons Act. Your Nixed Pendant is not designed to be a knife but could at times be construed to be a dangerous weapon. If in doubt, please consult a legal practitioner. While we have designed each product with South Africa’s self-defence law’s in mind, Nixed Jewellery (Pty) Ltd and associated members/parties cannot be held liable or responsible for any actions taken or harm caused using our products.
